JIM FOOSE

Jim began racing in the Spectator Stock division in 2000 at the age of 15 and quickly visited victory lane in 2001 at Lorain County Speedway.  After a successful rookie season that earned three wins and a 22nd final ranking in the points standings, Jim raced fulltime in 2002 and ended the year 33rd in points. He also returned to racing in 2008 at Lorain County Speedway and recorded a 3rd place finish in his first race back after nearly four years out of the car.  For 2009, Jim will run a limited schedule in the Charger division at Lorain County Speedway and possibly a few events in a Limited Late Model.

Ideas to attract fans to local short tracks
1) Make every night special, whether it be an added division, a hot dog eating contest, a stunt show, or added laps to an existing division. Announce this a month in advance. It is all about value to the fans.

2) The days of running five and six divisions of cars are over unless you run a tight ship (and many tracks around here do not). At a maximum four divisions should be racing on any given night, and make them all look different.

3) If you are going to have a 15 minute intermission, why not do something to entertain the fans during that time? Bring a few cars to your track's mid way or line up the first feature on frontstretch and host a "pre-race show" or an autograph session.

4) Remember that the fans are also suffering from the economic crunch and therefore are looking at cheaper forms of entertainment. $10 is the most an admission ticket to a regular show should cost.

5) Always have something for kids!!! Clowns, candy tosses, bike races, and penny gold rushes are a great way to captivate the young race fan. And most of your older fans first came to the races as a child.

That's all for this time, I'd like to see some of these things implemented at the local tracks.
